Overview

Runs errands in connection with procuring goods/services and receives, stores and issues hand tools, machine tools, dies, materials and equipment in industrial establishment.

Responsibilities

  • Receives written or verbal purchasing agent’s orders for goods and services.
  • Assists purchasing agent source/procure items to fill purchase orders.
  • Drives company vehicle to purchase or exchange equipment, tools, parts, and/or supplies.
  • Uses independent judgement in selecting which specific item will best satisfy facility’s needs.
  • Picks up, loads onto company vehicle, and delivers spare replacement parts, equipment, and expendable items used in facility to plant site.
  • Checks articles picked up against invoices and records factors causing equipment, tools, parts or supplies to be exchanged or returned.
  • Ensures accuracy of invoices prior to signing.
  • Maintains daily activity log of stops, items purchased or picked up, etc.
  • Services vehicle driven, such as checking fluid levels and replenishing fuel.
  • Performs minor clerical work, such as filing, data entry, etc.
  • Issues tools and equipment to workers and maintains records of tools and equipment issued and returned.
  • Locates lost or misplaced tools and equipment.
  • Prepares periodic inventory or maintains perpetual inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Receives, unpacks and stores incoming tools and equipment and requisitions stock to replenish inventory.
  • Inspects and measures tools and equipment for defects and wear and reports damage or wear to manager.
  • Repairs, services and lubricates tools and equipment.
  • Delivers tools or equipment to workers.
  • Marks and identifies tools and equipment.
  • Maintains Tool Crib clean and organized as per schedule.
  •  Will perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE:  One year experience 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules/signs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

  • Computer literate
  • Ability to operate calculator, copier, fax and laminating machine
  • Class C Drivers’ License required
  • Ability to obtain Forklift Certification
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays
