Overview

Family owned and operated for over 75 years, Pictsweet is a frozen vegetable producer with agricultural roots. We are recruiting for an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician at Picsweet's Clarksville, AR facility. The Ammonia Refrigeration Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of ammonia-based refrigeration systems that are crucial for production, processing, and storage operations. This is a safety sensitive position. The position demands a unique blend of technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving skills, and rigorous adherence to safety protocols for the production of quality food products manufactured under clean and safe conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with government agencies and internal standards including, but not limited to FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, HARPC, GMPs, Housekeeping, Allergen Segregation, etc.
  • Perform regular maintenance and repairs on ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure system efficiency and safety.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in refrigeration systems.
  • Operate and monitor refrigeration control systems.
  • Assist in the installation of new refrigeration equipment.
  • Conduct periodic system performance tests.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and team members to address and resolve system issues.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and repair requests.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Maintain facility equipment to minimize operational downtime.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work.
  • Assist with maintenance shop cleanliness, general cleanup, mobile equipment operations, maintenance to building and grounds, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or relevant technical training program in Refrigeration/Mechanical/HVAC systems preferred, but not required.
  • Completion of relevant technical certification, RETA Certification (CARO/CIRO/CRST) preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Previous experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in refrigeration maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Applicable knowledge in industry safety standards and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with refrigeration control and monitoring systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to conform to scheduling requirements, possibility of working rotating shifts and be on-call, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Capacity for physical labor in outdoor weather conditions, non-climate-controlled areas, and/or a 38-degree environment.
  • Requires ability to maintain high level of alertness and concentration while performing safety-sensitive task.
